The West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey's Mont Chateau headquarters is located along Cheat Lake near I-68, east of Morgantown, West Virginia.

From I-68, take Exit 10 (Cheat Lake/Fairchance Road) and follow the signs for State Route 857. Continue south on 857 (passing the Lakeview Resort) to the stop sign at the triangle intersection at the Ice's Ferry Bridge. After stopping, go straight through the intersection (not over the bridge) onto Mont Chateau Road, which dead ends in the Survey's parking lot. Visitors parking is in the lower lot next to the building.
