Trace Elements in West Virginia Coals
Trace Elements in West Virginia Coals
 The
trace element analyses included in these pages represent coal samples collected
by WVGES personnel over the past 30 years.  Recent collections were
partially funded  by the US Geological  Survey as part of the
NCRDS mapping project, including the NaCQI project, the State
Mineral Lands Mapping Project, and a US DOE funded WVU-NRCCE
project on forming nuclear-grade
graphite from WV coals.  Samples were collected as representative
full-face channel samples and individual bench samples from active deep
mines, surface mines, road construction cuts and diamond drill cores.
