The stratigraphic distribution of Zinc (Zn) shows generally less than 20 ppm in coals of the Pocahontas, New River and Kanawha Formations with slightly higher Zn contents in Allegheny and Conemaugh group coals.  Several coals were elevated in zinc, namely the Lower, Middle and Upper Kittanning coals, and the Brush Creek coal were all deep drill core samples from Wetzel County, many overlain with marine sediments (see cautionary note page).
