Geoscience Education in the Mountain State:
Falls and Fossils Trips

Dividing Line
Falls and Fossils Trips
Open to all RockCamp graduates, these are normally three-day field trips offering hands-on regional geologic experiences. The pace is a little slower and the content more relaxed. The goal of these trips is to remind teachers of nearby areas of geological interest and relevancy. They also allow us to maintain contacts with old RockCampers while introducing new RockCampers to the more experienced hands. The best part is the sharing of classroom ideas. In 2001, the first Falls and Fossils trip took 29 teachers to the Falls of the Ohio River and featured fossil collecting in Indiana and Ohio. Our 2002 trip went to Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes of New York, and the Palentological Research Institute of New York.
