Geoscience Education in the Mountain State:
Marion County
Conducted by Dr. Bob Behling of the WVU Department of Geology and Geography, these trips have been
funded by a combination of Eisenhower Title II grants and funds made available through Diane Furman,
Marion County's science coordinator. Each year approximatley 30 educators embark upon trips to visit
a new geologic setting. Over the past ten summers, these explorations have introduced teachers to geologic
features and processes in 35 states.
