Geoscience Education in the Mountain State:
RockCamp II

Dividing Line
RockCamp II
RockCamp I graduates are invited to become 'Geology Outreach and Resource Specialists.' This five-day residency session begins with participants being provided with the resources needed to learn more about the geology of their home counties. This includes the ability to talk directly with working research geologists. Participants also begin introductory planning and organizing a six-hour workshop and day-long local field trip for peers. This work is done after participants return home. These teachers-sharing-with-teachers experiences provide interactive forums fostering ideas that enhance science education by facilitating dissemination of RockCamp activities and materials. Sixty-nine RockCamp II graduates have shared their knowledge and skills by conducting workshops and field trips for colleagues.
