Updated Oil and Gas Well Data Available
WVGES Releases Update of Oil and Gas Well Data Publication
The West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey (WVGES) has released an update (10/30/07) to the digital publication of its oil and gas well data on
DVD (see details about the original publication). Since this 10/30/07 version of the publication contains the entire database of
more than 140,000 wells, new customers can obtain the entire current database from this release. Because each record in the files is date-stamped,
customers who purchased earlier versions of the publication can distinguish those records in this updated version which have been added or
modified since the previous releases.
Changes to the database since the previous version include the addition of more than 73,000 new data records and tens of thousands of
changes/modifications made to improve the quality of the data (see a more detailed summary about changes/modifications).
Cost:
Cost to new customers is $495; cost to customers who already purchased an original version is $50. This includes delivery via first class U.S. mail;
shipment via other means is available for an additional charge. Credit cards (VISA and MasterCard) are accepted.
Alternatives:
Survey staff can still create customized database retrievals per a customer's specifications in order to make available smaller, more manageable files for
those customers who don't need all of the well data. These customized "service requests" are available at a fee.
