The West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey (State Agency) seeks to
fill two (2) positions :
Position: Survey Geologist II
Education Required: B.S. degree with 2 years of professional experience OR a
M.S. degree from an accredited college or university - degree in geology, geological engineering, earth or environmental science with concentration in geology.
Experience: with computers and computer manipulation of data is desirable.
Other Requirements: The candidate must work closely with other geologists and program personnel; must have effective verbal and written communications skills, be able to define and solve problems, work independently, and must accept responsibility toward meeting deadlines.
Position: Survey Geologist III or IV - A senior level geologist within the Coal Programs GIS-based Coal Bed Mapping Project.
Education Required: A Ph.D. in geology, or a M.S. in geology with 3 years experience, or a B.S. with 5 years adequate experience will be considered.
Other Requirements: The candidate will work as part of a team producing various GIS maps depicting West Virginia’s coal resources. In addition, the geologist will be expected to conduct independent research on various aspects of Carboniferous geology.
