Molybdenum in West Virginia coal averaged 2.37 ppm (± 3.62 ppm) with a histogram highly skewed toward low values with a slight tail toward higher values and a maximum value of 52.5 ppm in a sample of the Harlem coal (see cautionary note page).  Molybdenum did not correlate with ash yield (r = +0.2855), total sulfur, pyritic sulfur or other trace elements.
