Trace Elements in West Virginia Coals
 Highest
whole coal zirconium (>80 ppm) values were confined to the southern West
Virginia coal field with low and intermediate values distributed statewide. 
This distribution reflects the stratigraphic trends with highest Zr in
upper Kanawha Formation and Allegheny Group coals in southern and
south central West Virginia and low values in the Lower Pennsylvanian and
Monongahela Group coals in southern and northern WV respectively.
