C. Patrick Bowman Honored as Survey Employee of the Year
C. Patrick "Pat" Bowman has been honored by the West Virginia Geological
and Economic Survey as that agency's Employee of the Year.
In his nine years with the Survey, Bowman has held several positions and is now Office Assistant
with the agency's Publications and Graphics Project and Administrative Service Program.
The Employee of the Year is chosen by majority vote of the agency staff from among the four previous
Employee of the Quarter winners. Criteria for voting selection includes exemplary work standards and
efficiency, notable attitude and helpfulness, work-related service beyond that required, and promoting
a positive image of the agency.
Established by the Geological Survey's parent agency, the West Virginia Bureau of Commerce, the awards
are part of the Bureau's Employee Recognition Program. As the Survey's Employee of the Year, Mr. Bowman
received a cash award and is eligible to compete for the Bureau of Commerce's Employee of the Year Award.
Commenting on Mr. Bowman's achievement, Survey Director and State Geologist Carl J. Smith stated,
"First as an Employee of the Quarter and now as the Survey's Employee of the Year, Pat's extraordinary job
performance and positive attitude represent the caliber of commitment to public service we all strive for.
To be so recognized by one's co-workers is indeed an honor. His success is very special for all of us at
the Survey."
A native of Morgantown, Mr. Bowman and his wife of 28 years, Patricia, live in Brookhaven. They have three
children and five grandchildren.
Pat Bowman is congratulated by Director and State Geologist Carl J. Smith for being voted the West
Virginia Geological and Economic Survey's Employee of the Year.
